Obituary of Alexander Charles Dangelmajer
Alexander Charles Dangelmajer, 28, passed away September 9, 2020.
Alex was born in Marion, IN to Paul and Tracey Dangelmajer. Until 6th grade he grew up in St. Louis, MO. In 2003 he and family moved to Kinnelon, NJ where Alex became co-Captain of his youth football team and played baseball as well. Alex graduated from Kinnelon High School in 2010 and went on to graduate from Rutgers University, Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. He devoured books in just hours, from fiction to history, his absolute favorite being Harry Potter. His retention left his family in awe.
With family Alex traveled to Hawaii, Yosemite, Virgin Islands, Spain, Italy and more. As an adult he traveled with friends to Greece, Italy Puerto Rico and favorite - Iceland where he said he wept for the beauty of the Northern Lights. New York City and the world were his oyster and every place he went his friends were amazed how perfect strangers quickly became like his dear friends. Alex so loved his church mission trips to Canada, West Virginia and South Carolina. And every year he looked forward to his camping trips with his buddies to concerts, the Poconos and the Upper Delaware River.
Alex was radiant when around his large family, dear friends and his loving girlfriend, Taylor Sumereau. So many family members, Taylor and dozens of friends were with him until he gently went to his eternal home where he will welcome us all again with his radiant smile.
Alex is survived by his loving parents Paul and Tracey Dangelmajer; his sister Tess Dangelmajer and Tess’s boyfriend Michael Garbarino; his grandmother Fran Malinowski of Carmel, IN; his aunt and uncles Carol & John Cornwell; Charles & Maria Dangelmajer who also had the honor to be Alex’s godparents; Laurel and Tom Harraka; John and Cindy Stout also of Carmel, IN.
The magnitude of love Alex had for his sister Tess was beyond words as well as his loving girlfriend, Taylor Sumereau. And, he leaves behind so many amazing, loving cousins and dear friends from High school and College. Alex is predeceased by his grandparents Herbert Malinowski and Charles & Laurel Dangelmajer.
The family will be welcoming guests at Scanlan Funeral Home Sunday, September 13, 2020. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8. Face masks are required. The funeral home is limited in the amount of people that are allowed indoors at one time. Due to gathering restrictions we regrettably have to ask for brief visits so all may be able to pay their respects. There will be an outdoor tent as you wait. There will be a memorial box displayed for anyone wishing to leave anything that reminded them of Alex. The items left in the box will be buried with him.
On Monday, September 14 family will gather privately at 9 A.M at the funeral home and travel to the interment at Mount Rest Cemetery in Butler. Following the burial, a Celebration of Life will be held 11:30 am at The Chapel in Lincoln Park, all are welcome to join. Face masks are required. Please note, The Chapel does have a limited capcity of 150 people and some addition room for overflow. If you have any additional questions or concerns please contact the funeral home directly.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either New City Kids Patersonor Cheerful Heart Mission, Alex’s two favorite charities.
Most of all Alex will be remembered for his remarkable heart. He loved everyone far more than himself. He was truly a kind and gentle soul.
