The son of the late Ferdinand and Mary Muttick (née Johnson), George grew up in the Bronx and had been a resident of Kinnelon for over 40 years. He was past commander of the American Legion Post 174, and member of the VFW, Knights of Columbus Counsel 943, and Elks Club in Wayne and Manahawkin. He enjoyed boating at the Jersey shore, astronomy, playing the guitar, do-it-yourself projects, playing pool, mathematics, and sharing a cold Michelob Ultra with his friends.
George is survived by his wife, Kathryn; his children, Lillian Muttick Ainsworth, Lynn Muttick, George Muttick and his wife Toni, Jacqueline Muttick, and Eric Muttick and his wife Kate; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 am Monday, August 3 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Our Lady of the Magnificat Church Cemetery, Kinnelon. The funeral home will have a Zoom meeting running for the duration of the visitation for anyone unable to pay their respects in person. Please contact the funeral home for more information.
In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory to your local food pantry would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to also enjoy a beer in his memory because, as he liked to say, “it’s five o’clock somewhere.”
