Obituary of Norma DeLuca
Norma D. DeLuca, 95, of Hasbrouck Heights, died peacefully Sunday, January 5, 2020.
Born in Carlstadt, Norma was the daughter of Francis and Maria Uhl. She grew up mostly in the Carlstadt area, but due to her father's work with the U.S. government, also spent some of her youth in Washington, D.C.
On January 25, 1948 she married Emilio DeLuca of Clifton and settled there raising their 3 children before moving to Hasbrouck Heights in 1964.
Norma was a loving, devoted mother. As her daughter explained, "next to the definition of unconditional love" in the dictionary is a picture of my mother." There was nothing she would not do for her children, and they were the center of her universe. Even when her middle child, Brian moved to California, Norma would visit him at least once a month. After Emilio's retirement, the couple moved to Walnut Creek, California, to be closer to him, but in turn missed their New Jersey family dearly, and returned home to Hasbrouck Heights just three years later.
Following Emilio's death in 2006, Norma moved in with her son, Brian. He sadly passed several years later, and Norma was then cared for by her daughter, Susan, who was able to be with her mother until the last moment of her life.
Norma was a dearly loved woman, who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Susan DeLuca, and her grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth DeLuca. She was predeceased by her husband, Emilio, her sons, William and Brian, and her siblings, Robert (John), Vernon (Jerry), and Anita Uhl.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held 10 am Thursday, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
Respectfully serving families for generations
