Alex Leyden

Obituary of Alex D. Leyden

Alex D. Leyden, of Parsippany-Troy Hills, formerly of Kinnelon, died Saturday, November 23, 2019. He was 31.

Born in Somerville, Alex was the son of Robert and Linda Leyden. Raised in Kinnelon, he was a 2007 graduate of Kinnelon High School. He was employed as a Roofer with Walzer Roofing in Bloomingdale.

Alex learned to ski at the age of three, and as a teenager crossed over to snowboarding. His love of the sport continued throughout his life, and he would often seek an adrenaline rush at Mountain Creek's terrain park, where he seemed to be fearless. His vacations to Killington Ski Resort in Vermont and to Long Beach Island with his family were among his favorite memories, he recently told his mother.

Alex was a gifted athlete, and had earned his license as an amateur boxer in the summer of 2019. He loved being outdoors most, though, and fishing was another of his favorite pastimes.

Alex was an incredible cook, a Star Wars fan, and an all-out "Jersey Boy" who loved to cheer on Red Bulls Soccer and the NJ Devils. He will be dearly missed.

Alex is survived by his mother, Linda Saxton-Leyden and the late Robert Leyden; his sister, Megan Leyden; his children, Lilly Leyden and Noah Repola; his girlfriend, Deanna Repola; his brother-in-law, Fabio Redivo; his nephew and niece, Miles and Ayla; his grandmother, Grace Saxton; his aunts, Lorrie Decker, Ellen Leyden and Karen Gross; and his uncle, Steve Leyden.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 4-8 pm at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 27 at Freedom Church, 145 Oak Ridge Road, Oak Ridge. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Transformation Life Center, West Park, NY, or Ace's Boxing Gym, Boonton, NJ would be greatly appreciated by Alex's family.
