Robert H. Tintle, 92, of Pompton Plains, passed away November 22, 2019.
Robert was born to Henry and Henrietta Tintle. In 1958, Robert married the love of his life Winifred, also known as “Cookie”, and the two moved to Riverdale to raise three children. They later resided in Pompton Lakes for 21 years before moving to Wanaque. He would serve as a councilman in Riverdale in his earlier years. Robert joined the US Navy where he would serve on the U.S.S. Columbus during WWII. After serving, Robert’s patriotism would shine through and you would rarely see him without his Navy jacket, hat or ring. He loved his country and enjoyed celebrating it especially on Memorial Day or The Fourth of July.
Robert had many hobbies. He enjoyed needle pointing and playing cards, especially poker on Monday nights. He loved doing puzzles and going to bingo. Robert was known to be a creature of habit. He would give his time and would meet friends for a cup of coffee every Saturday. He would also be known to go to the diner to get his regular pea soup. Robert relished in being able to go to Lancaster to visit the Sight and Sound Theatre. Robert cherished his memories of the cruises he went on and he enjoyed exploring Alaska, Panama Canal, and Maine.
Robert is survived by his children Patricia Philipson and her husband Robert, Sandra Lorenti and her husband Joseph; his grandchildren Kaitlyn MacKay and her husband Robert, Julia and her fiancé Ryan. Robert was predeceased by his wife Winifred and his son Robert Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Sunday November 24, 2019 at the funeral home. Visitation will be held after the service from 2-4pm at the funeral home.
