Obituary of Elizabeth Driver
Elizabeth (“Betty”) Driver, 91, a resident of Pompton Plains, died on September 19.
Betty was born and grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Fort Hamilton High School. Betty married Robert (“Bob”) Driver in 1950 and remained married until his death in 2008. Bob and Betty lived in Levittown and Seaford, New York while raising their family, with Betty moving to Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains in 2009. Betty was active in the Presbyterian Women’s Peace Movement while living on Long Island, and was both a leader in the Long Island Club and a member of the church choir while living at Cedar Crest Village.
Betty is survived by son David Driver and his wife Karen Agne of Vermontville, New York, son Howard (“Howie”) Driver of Greer, South Carolina, daughter Linda Moran and her husband Michael (“Mike”) Moran of Jersey City, New Jersey, and son-in-law William (“Smitty”) Smith of Lindenhurst, New York. Betty is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tiffany Smith of New York, Preston, Gregory, and Nicole Driver of South Carolina, David, Marcella, and Dwight Moran of New Jersey, and Madeline Moran of Pennsylvania. In addition to husband Bob, Betty was predeceased by daughter Jennifer (“Jennie”) Smith and grandson William (“Billy”) Smith, both of New York.
Cremation and memorial service will be private.
