Obituary of Donald W Adams
Donald W. Adams, 88, of Pompton Plains, passed away on July 3, 2019.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Donald was a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts, participated in competitive roller skating, and won several trophies in handball. He proudly served in the US Air Force as an airplane mechanic and engineer during the Korean Conflict.
After returning to Brooklyn he met and married the love of his life, Alice Walsh, in 1955, and joined IBM, where he had a long career. Together the couple moved to Pompton Plains and raised their 4 children. Donald was a longtime member of the Pacquenac Tennis Club, where he was active on the board. He enjoyed refereeing for PAL football and played softball, basketball, and volleyball. Donald loved to watch sports, whether it was the NY Giants or NY Mets or his children and grandchildren. He and Alice loved to host poolside get-togethers for family and friends.
An engineer at heart, Donald could often be found taking on home repairs or working on his cars. He will be fondly remembered for his love of tinkering, his unique fashion choices, and his quirky sense of humor.
