Robert D. Conway, a lifelong resident of Pompton Lakes, died at home on Thursday, March 14, 2019. He was 56.
Born in Chilton Hospital in Pompton Plains, Robert was one of six children born to Leo and Marinel Conway. Raised in Pompton Lakes, he was a 1981 graduate of Pompton Lakes High School, and went on to graduate from Arizona State University in 1985 before returning back to Pompton Lakes.
Robert surrounded himself with many lifelong Pompton Lakes friends, who would regularly stop by his home for a quick beer and good conversation. His home always had an open door policy, he loved hosting parties and bar-b-ques by the pool. His home was frequently filled with friends and loved ones.
Robert was a sports nut, he enjoyed having the guys over to watch all sports, especially his Giants and Yankees.
Robert took great pride in his home. He also loved to garden, and could always be found toiling in the dirt around his home, planting his newest researched finds.
He was a happy-go-lucky kind of guy, who always had a smile on his face and a kind demeanor towards anyone he met. He will be greatly missed.
Robert is survived by his siblings, Leo Conway and his wife Debra, Jim Conway and his wife Kathy, John Conway and his wife Kathy, and Joan Buck; his nieces and nephews, Lee, Ian, Cory, Jackie, Victoria, Alexandra, Kaitlin, Brendan, Tim and Mike; as well as many, many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his twin brother Peter, and his parents, Leo and Marinel.
Cremation services were private. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at St. Mary's Church, 17 Pompton Avenue, Pompton Lakes.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Mary’s Food Pantry in Robert’s name would be greatly appreciated by the Conway family.
