Obituary of Carlos A. Rivera

Carlos A. Rivera, 83, of Wanaque, formerly of Kinnelon, passed away on January 25, 2019.

 

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Carlos graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, and attended New York Law School.  He was employed by Cyanamid, American Home Products, and also held membership in the Million Dollar Round Table for insurance sales.  He was a long-time member of the Gideons International, and passionate participant in the work of the organization.  Carlos loved to travel, swim, dance, and spend time with his family and friends.

 

Carlos is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; his daughters, Gloria Rivera Del Gallo and husband Jimmy, Vanessa Rivera Lutz and husband James, Marie Carmen Rivera, and Aslynn Rivera Tigera and husband Sergio; his step children, Edward Malec and his wife Jennifer, and Amy Malec; his grandchildren, Glorimar Mason and husband Joshua, Giselle Caicedo and husband Alberto, Jophiel Ortiz, Justine Ortiz, Jared Ortiz, Joshua Lutz, Jonathan Lutz, Jared Lutz and wife Lissette, Gianna Marie Tigera, Giancarlo Tigera, and Hanna Malec; and his great grandchildren, Brianna Mason, Evan Joseph Mason, Nathen  Luis Hernandez, Emma Caicedo, Nicholas Lutz, and Dorothy Lutz.

 

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday, February 1 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains.  A funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday at Hawthorne Gospel Church, Hawthorne.  Interment will follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery, Kinnelon.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations to Gideons International would be greatly appreciated by the family.
