John "Jack" Schmieg, 83, of Pompton Plains, NJ, formerly of Highland, NY, passed away on November 6, 2018.
Born in New York, NY, Jack was the son of the late Clinton and Jeanette Schmieg. He proudly served in the US Army and had a successful career as a quality assurance engineer for IBM. He was an avid pistol shooter and rockhounder and volunteered much of his time with several groups at Cedar Crest Village where he had lived for the past 11 years.
Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Julie; his daughters, Jean Speer and her husband John and Marie Remington and her husband Michael; and his grandchildren, Janna Remington, John Speer, Julia Remington, and Julianne Speer. He was predeceased by his brother, Clinton.
Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory to the Cedar Crest Resident Care Fund would be greatly appreciated by his family.
