Obituary of Herbert Sharwell
Herbert W. Sharwell, Jr., 101, longtime resident of Pompton Plains, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
Herbert was a talented construction mechanic who worked for Local 825 Operating Engineers for 65 years. Upon retirement, he discovered his green thumb and love for gardening and was employed by several greenhouses. He was a proud US Army veteran who served in WWII, and was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles, was a member of the Passaic Valley Motorcycle Club, and was a talented woodworker. Herbert enjoyed spending time with his family, eating ice cream, and doing things his way.
Herbert is survived by his daughter, Debbie De Lucca; his grandchildren, Aaron Pavero and Crystal De Lucca; and his great children, Giordana and Nikolas; and his nephew, Steven Edgerly. He was predeceased by his wife Florence in 2005.
Visiting hours are 4-8 pm on Tuesday, May 8 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral service will be held at 7:30 pm during visitation.
