Obituary of Lillian Agnes Lynch

Lillian Agnes Lynch, 94, of Branchville, died Monday, January 1, 2007 at Barn Hill Care Center in Newton, following a brief illness. Born in Newark, Lillian was the daughter of the late Garrett and Marjorie (nee Cattle) McCormick. Growing up in Midvale, she went on to graduate from St. Anthony?s School of Business in Butler. Upon graduation, she worked for the law office of John McNaughton in Pompton Lakes until marrying Joseph Francis Lynch Sr. in 1938. Settling in Pompton Plains, Lillian and Joseph raised three children. Throughout her marriage, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver to family members. Coming from a large family herself, she always felt family should come first. She volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed knitting and reading. She is survived by her son, Thomas and his wife Georgia of Jupiter, Florida; her daughter, Sheila Elias and her husband Abraham of Branchville; her brother, Thomas McCormick of Pompton Plains; her sister, Maybelle Thompson of Pompton Plains; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; her parents, Garrett and Marjorie McCormick; her son, Joseph Jr.; her brothers, Richard, Garrett, Robert (Eddie) and Vincent; and her sister, Marjorie C. Calpini. Funeral services will commence 10 a.m. Friday from the funeral home and will proceed to an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Council R.C. Church in Pompton Plains. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Magnificat Cemetery in Kinnelon. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
