Walter Luckhardt, 86 of Palmyra, Virginia, formerly of Wayne, died Saturday, April 15 at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains.
Walter was born in West New York, NJ, the son of the late William and Anna Luckhardt. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Band which performed at the inauguration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was an accomplished musician, playing the trumpet, piano and organ.
Walter, along with his wife Audrey, owned and operated the Windbeam Lodge Supper Club in Riverdale, NJ. He was also a partner in the Sundance Lodge in Fairfield and Valley Spring Lake in Riverdale.
He was predeceased by his wife Audrey.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at Grace Chapel of the First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains. Interment of ashes will immediately follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa.
