Obituary of Nancy M. Smith

Nancy M. Smith, 54, of Lincoln Park, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Atrium at Wayne Nursing Home in Wayne. Born in Albany, Nancy was the daughter of Nancy (nee Ferraro) and the late Paul J. Dimoro. Growing up in Albany, Nancy graduated with the class of 1970 from Our Lady of Mercy High School, and went on to study at St. Rose College, also in Albany. Working as an engineer for Verizon, Nancy met her future husband, Carter Smith, while on a training trip, and on June 23, 1984, the two married in Menands, New York. Moving to Lincoln Park, Nancy became a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Council R.C. Church. According to her family, Nancy excelled as a cook, learning a lot from her father, who was a chef. She also loved to travel, driving to many places to vacation with her family. Nancy also liked to decorate, and after retiring in 2003 from Verizon after 32 years of service, she redecorated two bedrooms in the home she shared with her husband. She is survived by her husband, Carter of Lincoln Park; her mother, Nancy Dimoro of Colonie, New York; her daughter, Michelle Greco of Caldwell; her step-son, Ryan Smith of Pequannock; and her step-daughter, Stacy Smith of Oak Ridge. She was predeceased by her father, Paul J. Dimoro, in 1996. Funeral services will commence 9 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home, and will proceed to a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Council R.C. Church in Pompton Plains. Cremation will be private. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church in Loudenville, New York, 10 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nancy?s memory to the Kaleidoscope of Hope Foundation, P.O. Box 1124, Madison, NJ 07940 would be greatly appreciated by her family.
