Obituary of Margaret Brizek

Margaret Louise (Gerdau) Brizek of Montague, NJ, age 95, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, February 28^th, 2023. A resident of Montague, NJ, formerly of Fair Lawn, she was born and raised in Hackensack by Charles and Kathryn (McKinley) Gerdau. Marge, as she was called by her family and friends, converted to the Catholic Faith, which became the soul and center of her life. 

She courageously raised eleven children in the faith, nurturing each of them and welcoming friends and eventually spouses of her children and grandchildren into the fold. She cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom thought they were her favorite. 

Marge was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Chapel in Pequannock. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Brizek (1921-1982); beloved son, Paul Brizek (1954-1974); beloved granddaughter, Anna Marie Brizek (1999-1999); beloved great granddaughter, Jacki (2022-2022), beloved brother Charles and beloved sister, Kay Mauthe. 

She is survived by her daughters: Sandra (Lester Costigan); Margaret (Robert Rochette); Theresa (Thomas Medino); and Mary (Michael Decker).  She is also survived by her sons:  John; Joseph (Susan); Gerard (Lillian); Andrew (Dawn); Michael (Lourdes); and Daniel (Pamela). Margaret also leaves behind 36 grandchildren and their spouses, and 19 great-grandchildren.
