Obituary of Thomas John Filipi

Thomas John Filipi, FAIC, 79, of West Milford, passed away on February 27, 2023.

Born in West Grove, PA, Tom grew up in southeastern PA. He briefly attended St. Andrew's Preparatory School in Middletown, DE before enrolling in college at University of Delaware when he was just 14 years old. He earned his bachelor's in chemistry at age 19 and worked for many years as an analytical chemist. Tom loved to travel and cook, was an avid reader, and enjoyed theater and the opera.

Tom is lovingly survived by his wife of 32 years, Orinda; his son, Adrian and his wife Diana; his stepdaughter, Elaine Schneider and her husband Ronald; his brother, Francis and his wife Deborah; his sister, Elise Abbato and her husband Robert; his grandchildren, Ophelia, Atticus and Oscar Filipi, and Benjamin and Justin Schneider.

Visiting hours will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Saturday, March 4 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm. Cremation will be private.
