Please share a memory of Sebastian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

SEBASTIAN L PINTAGRO – SEPTEMBER 1, 1926 – DECEMBER 27, 2022

At 96 years young, Sebastian went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Originally from Jamestown, NY, Sebastian lived in the Villages, FL for nearly 30 years before moving to Pompton Plains, NJ in 2015. Sebastian could be found, every day, in the gym keeping fit. He always told people never say you’re old, because once you do, that's when you’ll become old. He was a member of the Republican Club and the Bocce Club, playing on Cedar Crest's Bacciagalupe team which won the Tournament several years in a row.

In his early years, while attending the Jamestown schools, Sebastian won several athletic awards. He was awarded first place in the high jump, broad jump and javelin throw many times. He was also very artistic, especially enjoying pencil drawings of birds.

Sebastian was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Philippine Islands as a flamethrower. While serving there, he was able to meet with his brother, Thomas, on the island of Samar. Both brothers had not seen each other for two years. Thomas served in the Seabees, Sebastian in the infantry, and both brothers came home to their parents. After the war, Sebastian went to work at the Morrow Rockwell Company for 36 years as a Quality Control Supervisor.

Wherever Sebastian lived, he always attended church and was an active member. He is survived by his wife, Jean of almost 20 years, his step-children Lauren Chandless (Sam D’Amico) of Pine Bush, NY, Ralph Chandless (Kathy) of Lake Havasu, AZ and Allison Lastfogel-Rooney (Arthur) of Boonton, NJ as well as 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson, Brandon Lastfogel.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for April 14th at 7:00 PM at Cedar Crest Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brandon’s Heart and Sole or Cedar Crest Resident Care.
