Obituary of George H. Morgan
George H. Morgan, 85, of Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains, formerly of Woodland Park and Clifton, died Sunday, January 16, 2022.
Born in the Bronx, NY, George was the son of George and Helen Morgan. Moving to East Paterson at the age of four, he was a graduate of Lodi High School. While working after high school, he earned his college degree from Seton Hall University while attending classes at night.
In addition, he served in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
After marrying his beloved wife of 58 years, MaryAnn H. Christoffersen, the couple lived first in Louisville, Kentucky before settling in Clifton to raise their children. George was a longtime Executive of Transamerica, retiring at the age of 60 as Vice President of Credit and Collections. He was an executive with the company for more than 35 years.
In retirement, George pursued his many interests which included his love for theater and film. He was a graduate of the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in New York City, and alongside his wife, devoted his time and talents to working on and off the stage and in front of the camera. In addition to his stage and film work, George and his wife worked together as Standardized Patients for the University Hospital of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark where they helped physicians in training with disease diagnosis and treatment and patient care. George greatly enjoyed his time delving into the art of acting, and preparing for his various roles.
George also had a deep commitment to philanthropic work. He and his wife were active volunteers at and contributors to Eva's Kitchen in Paterson. They also were active contributors to The Seeing Eye in Morristown and other causes near and dear to their hearts.
George was a great source of strength and love for his family and his community. He was a pillar of integrity who could always be counted on to do the right thing. He was loved beyond measure and will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, MaryAnn Morgan; his children, Michael Morgan and his wife Adele, JeanAnn Morgan-Liftin and her husband Dr. Alan J. Liftin, and Steven Morgan and his wife Norma; his sister, Sr. Laura Morgan, FMSC; and his grandchildren, Ryan, Evan, Scarlette and Gianna. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Helen, and his brother, Joseph.
Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held 10:15 am Friday at St. Bonaventure Church, Paterson. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
