Bernard Timmins, 80, of Pequannock, passed away on June 4, 2021.
Born in Jersey City, Bernard was the son of Michael and Anna Timmins. After high school, Bernard proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He married Barbara Castronovo on May 7, 1967 and the couple lived in Jersey City before settling in Pequannock to raise their children. Bernard was a police officer for Jersey City, retiring in 2000 after 32 years of dedicated service.
Bernard enjoyed taking trips to the Jersey shore and taking long walks in his neighborhood, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. He was always there to cheer them on and support their latest endeavor.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his sons, Michael Timmins and Bernard Timmins and his wife Kristina; his grandchildren, Shaine, Erin, Rachel and Christopher; and his great granddaughter, Haley. He was predeceased by his grandson, James.
Visiting hours will be held from 3 to 7 pm on Wednesday, June 9 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes.
