Frank Poloniak, 65, of Brooklyn passed away June 3, 2021.
Frank was born to Frank and Gizela Poloniak and was raised in West Paterson NJ. He served in the US Navy for 4 years. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he worked in different careers including proudly sailing as a merchant mariner on various NOAA ships. One of his accomplishments in life was being able to cross the equator while working with NOAA, earning him the distinction of Shellback. He was blessed with two children who he raised in Riverdale then Sparta. Frank settled in Brooklyn where he enjoyed the company of friends both old and new.
Frank enjoyed golfing when he could. He also loved being near the water whether it was deep sea fishing or swimming in the ocean. His favorite thing to do in his free time was to be with his family, especially his grandchildren. Frank and his granddaughter loved spending time cuddled up together on the couch with a good book. At the end of their day, they would always treat themselves to their favorite dessert, ice cream.
Frank was very friendly and personable. He made friends wherever he went. He would always talk to anyone and appreciate a meaningful conversation between friends or even strangers. He was very social and loved to tell jokes.
Frank is survived by his daughter Lauren Burke and her husband Michael, his son Matthew Poloniak and his wife Christine; his sister Christine Reder; his loving grandchildren Adalyn Burke, Charles Poloniak and was blessed to have another grandchild on the way. Frank was predeceased by his brother Robert Poloniak.
A memorial visitation will be held at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home Tuesday June 8, 2021 from 4-7pm. There will be a Funeral Mass held at St. Mary's RC Church in Pompton Lakes Wednesday June 9th, 2021 at 11 am.
