Obituary of Robert John Keegan
Robert John Keegan, 81, of Pompton Lakes, died unexpectedly at home Sunday, May 30, 2021.
Born in Manhattan, Robert was one of four boys born to Walter and Alice Keegan. After high school, Robert became a welder, and went on to run his own business in the field. Over the course of his career, he owned and managed Gateway Welding, Gateway Equipment Maintenance, Inc., and RJK Energy, Inc. After selling those businesses, he worked as a welder for JR Green in Boonton before retiring.
Marrying Pamela Pratt in 1985, the couple settled in Pompton Lakes together, and have lived there ever since.
Robert loved the time spent with his family. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, and friend to many. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast; a longtime member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 279 in Lincoln Park, and a member of Hawthorne Fortitude Lodge 200 in Ramsey. He will be dearly missed.
Robert is lovingly survived by his wife of 36 years, Pamela; his children, Robert Keegan, Bryan Keegan and his wife Wendy, Shawn Keegan and his wife Cindy and Shannon Milazzo; as well as his beloved 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harry, Walter and Charlie.
Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-7:30 pm. A wake service will be held at 7:30 to conclude the visitation period. A funeral Mass will be held 10 am Friday at Our Lady of Good Counsel, Pompton Plains. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson.
