Obituary of Lisbeth Zickler
Lisbeth Zickler, 88, of Pequannock passed away May 2, 2021.
Lisbeth was born in Lucerne, Switzerland to Rudolph and Ida Fuchs. She made the courageous move to the United States in 1952. She met the love of her life William Zickler in 1955 and the two would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in October. They settled in Pequannock in 1966 and have three children whom they raised there. She completed an apprenticeship as a legal secretary in Switzerland but after having children, she became a stay-at-home mother. She made sure her home was filled with love and care. Once her children were independent, she transitioned back into the workplace as a clerk for Pequannock Township Department of Parks and Recreation.
She was a woman who loved to travel, especially anywhere that had a beach, particularly in the Caribbean. One of her pastime activities was skiing, and she would take advantage of the Canadian Rockies, the Swiss Alps and the scenic slopes of Colorado. Lisbeth enjoyed the outdoors and often walked in Mountainside Park or played tennis in Greenview Park. However, writing letters was her passion. She wrote to family as well as old friends in Switzerland and Australia. On quiet days and evenings she also enjoyed knitting her grandchildren mittens, sweaters, and “slipper socks.”
Lisbeth will always be remembered for her persistence which came in use when she moved to the United States to start a new life. She had a mind of her own and felt free to express her opinions. She was proud of her children as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren. She provided her family with love and her children with the resources to obtain an education to better their lives. The things that most would take for granted, Lisbeth felt grateful.
Lisbeth is survived by her devoted husband William Zickler; her daughter Elaine Korleski (Ed); her sons Robert (Suzanne) and Gregory Zickler; her sister Carla Svalduz; her brother Hansrudi Fuchs; her grandchildren Nicole Stone, Gregory Zickler Jr., Jeffrey Zickler; William, Michael, Thomas, and Christine Zickler; she was blessed with two great grandchildren Abigail Stone and Benson Zickler.
Funeral services were held privately for the family.
