Richard Torsiello

Obituary of Richard Gerald Torsiello

Richard G. Torsiello, 79, of Pompton Lakes, died Monday, April 26, 2021.

Born in Newark, Richard was the son of Joseph and Christina Torsiello. Marrying Carmela "Millie" Inturrisi, the couple settled in Pompton Lakes, where they raised a son and a daughter.

Richard worked hard for his family, and held a long career as a butcher. In addition, he worked for many years as a Crossing Guard in Pompton Lakes, and greatly enjoyed interracting with all the kids on their way to and from school.

Richard was always known as a Mr. Fixit kind of guy; if anyone needed help, he was there to lend a hand. He never seemed to take a break, or even to take a seat -- he was always moving around, keeping himself busy on one project or another.

When Richard was blessed with grandchildren, he was over the moon. He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons, as well as watching his granddaughters excel in dance and gymnastics. He was always there for them.

The holidays were always a fun time of year for the Torsiello family, and Richard loved hosting New Year's Eve every year. Ultimately, being surrounded by his friends and family was all he needed.

Richard is lovingly survived by his wife, Millie; his children, Dean Barone and his wife Amie, and Christina DePrima and her husband Todd; as well as his grandchildren, Adrianna and Amanda Barone, and Todd and Michael DePrima. He was predeceased by his five siblings.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 2 from 2-5 pm at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held 11 am Monday at St. Mary's Church, Pompton Lakes. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Torsiello family are appreciated.
