Obituary of Edward C. Hawk
Edward C. Hawk, 81, of Pequannock, died Saturday, February 13, 2021. He was not alone.
Born in Philadelphia to Walter and Ruth Hawk, he was one of five children. He loved his brothers & sisters - Walt and his wife Charlotte, Henrietta Tommy and his wife Pat, who live in California, and sister Joan and her husband Bob, who live in Pennsylvania. When he was very young, his stepdad Al Schaefer came into his life. Al was a big part of Ed's life and he was grateful to have this man in his life.
At an early age Ed joined the Marines, one of the proudest moments of his life up to the day he died. He then went on to work for State Farm Insurance Company for over 40 years, and had a great career.
During that time, he met and married Carol, who he hired as a part timer when she was in high school. Needless to say, it was love at first sight and continued for 57 years.
While at State Farm, Ed continued his education, graduating with honors from Seton Hall University.
Ed was a very active parishioner of Holy Spirit RC Church in Pequannock, and served as the Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Navaugh Council.
He leaves behind his wife, Carol; his daughters, Deborah and her husband Pat, Donna, and Jennifer and her husband Rick. They were his girls. No matter what, he truly loved them and was always proud of their accomplishments.
One of his greatest joys were his grandchildren, who he loved and adored: Hugh, Patrick, Lily, Shealyn, and Brianna. He will always be Pop to them. So many memories.
Also, Ed had many nieces and nephews who he always enjoyed visiting with.
Ed wanted to be cremated. A Mass of celebration will follow in the future. A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 1-5 pm at the funeral home. Due to Covid 19, masks are required and contact tracing information will be recorded upon entry.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Toys for Tots would be appreciated by Ed's family.
Respectfully serving families for generations
