Marion R. Spilatro, 93, a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, left the world suddenly Saturday, January 30, 2021.
Born in Newark, Marion was the daughter of Walter and Lillian Schriek. Raised in Hillside NJ, she earned her degree in education from Newark Teachers College, now Kean University.
While in college Marion met her classmate Alfred Spilatro. They were married and settled in White House Station to raise five children with love and devotion. Marion worked briefly as a teacher in Bridgewater Township.
Marion moved to Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains in 2013. There, she enjoyed the knitting group, and was a member of the Republican club. She was also active in the Catholic community at Cedar Crest, and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Marion is survived by her children, Diane Zungoli and her husband Steve, John Spilatro and his wife Karen, and Steven Spilatro and his wife Jane; her grandchildren, Sharon Yandoli, Amanda Ormandy, Megan LaForgia, Lauren Demars, Michael Spilatro, Daniel Spilatro, and Brian Spilatro; as well as four great-grandchildren, Parker, Austin, Avia and Noelle.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred, as well as her daughters, Karen Spilatro and Jeanne Demars.
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic funeral services are private.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Little Sisters of the Poor in Totowa would be greatly appreciated by Marion's family.
