Mounir Hayek, 72, of Pompton Lakes, passed away on January 27, 2021.
Mounir grew up in Beirut, Lebanon where he became a banker before moving to the United States in 1971. In the U.S., he became a successful business owner in the automotive field, but his true passion was his family. He was a charming, generous, and patient man that many looked to for advice and encouragement.
Son to predeceased Nasr and Matild Rosette Hayek. Mounir is survived by his lifelong partner Marie DeVoogt. Loving father to Hajaleh Hayek, James Hayek and his wife Amanda, Joseph Hayek and his wife Brittany and the mother of his children Barbara Hayek. Dear grandfather to Mia, Nicolas, Noah, and Leo Hayek. Brother to Samira Fakhoury, Samir Hayek, Sumaya Karam, Toufic Hayek, and Camil Hayek. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 2 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home. Cremation will be private. The number of guests inside the building at any time will be limited. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
