Frank T. Pfeil, Jr., 66, a lifelong resident of Pompton Plains, died Thursday, January 7, 2021.
Born in Newark, Frank was the third of five children born to Frank and Betty Pfeil. Raised in Pompton Plains, he was a 1972 graduate of Butler High School.
Working first for the Kinnelon Department of Public Works, Frank settled into a career as a custodian for the Cedar Grove School District and was employed for nearly 40 years there until his death.
Frank had a passion for photography, he and would spend his weekends traveling the countryside to photograph landscapes, nature and historical sites. He was talented in his art and won several awards for the photographs he took. Before converting to digital photography, he would develop his photographs himself.
Along with his sister, Frank greatly enjoyed ancestral history, and would often keep etchings of family gravestones to add to their records.
Frank was a quiet, gentle man and will be dearly missed by his loving family. He is survived by his siblings, Ron and his wife Pat, Bob and his wife Mary Pat, Nancy Reinhardt and her husband Dennis, and Kathy Colligan and her husband Bill as well as his nieces and nephews, Allison Porter and her husband Matt, Daniel Peterson, Jennifer Jenkins and her husband Dan, and Melissa Reinhardt.
A Memorial Mass is being planned for a future date.
