Edward James Cassinelli, 82, of Wanaque, passed away on January 5, 2021.
The son of the late Harry and Margaret Cassinelli, Ed spent his early years in Union City before moving to Englewood Cliffs with his family when he was 13. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1958-1962 and served on the USS Tarawa and the USS Intrepid. Following the Navy, Ed was recruited by The Bendix Corporation (which became AlliedSignal and now Honeywell), where he was an electronics technician until 1973 when he left to run his own business. He married Joanne Marino in 1967 and the couple settled in Wanaque before moving to Kinnelon to raise their family. Ed was a talented carpenter and the owner and operator of Ed's Custom Carpentry. He enjoyed his grandchildren and outdoor activities.
Ed is lovingly survived by his wife of 53 years, Joanne; his daughter, Amy Foley; his son, Michael Cassinelli and his wife Carrie; and his grandchildren, Natalie and Ryan Foley and Estella Cassinelli. He was predeceased by his brother, Harry; his sister, Anne Marie McLaughlin; and his son-in-law, Rich Foley.
Services were held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed's memory to Doctors Without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, or the Veterans Administration Morristown Clinic (540 West Hanover Ave, 2nd Floor, Morristown, NJ 07960) would be greatly appreciated by his family.
