Dolores M. Henze, 96, of Pompton Plains, formerly a longtime resident of Bergenfield, died at home Sunday, December 17, 2017.
Born in Weehawken, she was raised in Bergenfield. A graduate of Dumont High School, she went on to study at the Berkley Business School in New York City before gaining employment as the Secretary to the Superintendant in the Bergenfield School System. She worked in that job for more than 40 years before retiring.
Moving to Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains in 2002, she lived there with her sister, Janet. In retirement Dolores loved attending the Opera at Lincoln Center or at the AMC in Paramus. She also read the paper religiously, enjoying the comic section most of all.
Dolores was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Mary, and her sister, Janet. She is survived by her friend & caregiver, Lillian Cordero, her cousins, Sharon Holowecki and her husband Dennis, and Colleen Weiss and her husband Allan; and her best friend of over 40 years, Teresa Troisi.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 3-6 pm at Cedar Crest Chapel, 1 Cedar Crest Drive, Pompton Plains. A Mass will be held 9 am Thursday at Cedar Crest Chapel, with burial following at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hackensack.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or to the Parkinson's Research Foundation in Dolores' memory would be greatly appreciated.
