Obituary of Helen Malady
Helen "Chickie" Malady, 83, of West Milford, passed away on May 11, 2017.
The daughter of the late Walter and Helen Olsen, Helen was raised in Elmwood Park. She began her career as a secretary at Curtis Publishing and it was there that she met Gene Malady. The couple later married and moved to Milton to raise their family. Helen worked for Amco Folding Cartons for 26 years as executive secretary and HR director and, upon retiring, she worked at Lakeland Bank until she was 82.
Helen loved to read mystery novels, especially by James Patterson and Sue Grafton, and enjoyed the challenge of solving crossword and Sudoku puzzles. Above all else, her most treasured moments were spending time with her girls, and her beloved grandson.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Kathy Gantzhorn and Nancy Malady; and her grandson, Quinn Gantzhorn. She was predeceased by her husband, Gene; and her brother, Walter Olsen.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Monday, May 15 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral service and interment will be held the following day.
