Lillian F. Decker, 83, of Toms River, formerly a longtime resident of Pequannock, died Thursday, January 11, 2018.
Born in Morristown, Lillian was raised in Pequannock, and was a graduate of Butler High School. Marrying her high school sweetheart, Clyde Decker, the family settled in Pequannock to raise their children.
In addition to caring for her family, Lillian worked as a cashier at Food Town in Pequannock, employed there for more than 28 years.
Following Clyde’s stroke in his early 50s, Lillian cared for him for eight years, and was able to keep him at home despite his debilitating condition. She worked hard for all her family throughout her life, and when she was gifted with grandchildren, she was delighted.
Moving to Toms River to live with her daughter eight years ago, Lillian enjoyed being close to the beach, and really loved the family’s new puppy, Junior.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Robert Decker, and Linda Temple and her husband Wayne; her brother, John Cook; her sister, Janice Morse; her grandchildren, Ryan Decker and his wife Bessie, and Alina Decker; and her great-grandchildren, Julia, Ely, Kira and Issys.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 10-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held 1:30 pm at the end of visitation. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parents of Autistic Children Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
