Richard A. Moch

It is with great sadness that the family of Richard A. Moch, known to many as "Richie" and "Captain" passed away peacefully at home after a long and brave battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 4, 2018 at the age of 65. Richard will be lovingly remembered for his great sense of humor and his great love for the outdoors. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend!

Richard discovered his love and passion for the sea after moving to Barnegat Light at the age of 18. He became one of the best Swordfish and Tuna long lining Captains on the East Coast, owning several of his own vessels, with his most favorite pride and joy, Fishing Vessel DenMarc. Richard spent most of his life commercial fishing and felt very at home on the sea. When not at sea, he spent time with family or was on an adventure of some sort, whether it be spending time on Moch Mountain in Dushore, Pa., Disney trips with the camper or adventurous trips to Montana to go elk hunting and living it up as a cowboy!

Richard will be forever lovingly remembered by his wife of 28 years, Helen, and his children, Dennis and wife Ashlei, Marc, Mary Thayne and Anna. Richard will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Dustin, Madeline and Morgan; his sisters, Barbara, Kathy, Janet and Beth and their spouses and partner, Bob Fredericks, Lance Tigyer, and Linda Schuch. Richard will also be remembered by 38 nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and extended family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Bauer Moch, his father, Milton Moch, and brother, Michael Moch.

Visiting will be held 3-7 pm Friday, January 12, 2018 at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held 11 am Saturday at St. Mary's RC Church, Pompton Lakes. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Magnificat Cemetery, Kinnelon.
