Elaine Morano, 71, of Pompton Lakes, passed away on December 23, 2017.
Born in Jersey City to Joseph and Florence Morano, Elaine was a lifelong resident of Pompton Lakes and an original member of the Explorer Post 136 sponsored by the Pompton Lakes Elks Lodge 1895. Elaine loved music, dancing, and shopping, but above all else she loved being around people, especially her nieces and nephews.
Elaine is survived by her sister, Janet M. Ekkers; her brother in-law, Albert L. Ekkers; her nieces, Michelle R. Ekkers and Melissa Dougherty; her nephews, Christopher Ekkers and his wife Dana, Jason Ekkers and his wife Lucia, Dwayne Ekkers, and Martin Morano; and her great nieces and nephews, Jason A. Ekkers, Robert W. Mirrer, Angelica Mirrer, Brielle Mirrer, Amanda Ekkers, Jared Ekkers, Nicholas Ekkers, and Randi Ekkers; She was predeceased by her brother, Robert J. Morano; and her nephew, Stephen Morano.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, December 27 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral service will be held at 7:30 pm. Interment will be held at 10:30 am Thursday at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home at 9:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Elaine’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated by her family.
