Edward Post Godfrey, 90, of Pompton Plains passed away at his home on Friday, January 29, 2010.

Born in Newark to Edward and Henrietta (nee Post) Godfrey, Edward was a 65 year resident of this community. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army prior to working as an insurance claims examiner for Prudential. He was also employed as a tax assessor for Pequannock Twp. and was a proud member of the Pequannock Fire Co. #2.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine; his son, Edward and his wife, Orsola; his daughter, Joyce VanDecker and her husband, John; his brother, Robert and his wife, Gladys; his five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 8:30 p.m. during the evening visitation. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's memory to the Pequannock Engine Co. #2, would be appreciated by the family.
