John W. Macagney, 82, of Pompton Lakes, died Friday, January 22, 2010 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
The son of John A. and Helen (nee Casey) Macagney, John was one of five children. Graduating from Pompton Lakes High School, he served in the Army during the Korean War.
Earning his Bachelor's Degree, John became an Accountant and was self-employed.
Marrying Rosemary J. Lee 56 years ago, the couple settled in Pompton Lakes in 1956, raising four children. He was an active parishioner of St. Mary's RC Church in Pompton Lakes, was a founding member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Marion Council, and served as past President of the Pompton Lakes-Riverdale Youth Organization.
John is lovingly survived by his wife, Rosemary (nee Lee); his son, Michael and Jeannine, his son, Daniel and his wife, Kristin; his daughters, Patricia Bradley, and Susan Brilhart and her husband Paul; his brother, Robert; his sisters, Maureen Smith and Mary Diamond; and 13 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Fox.
A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2010 at St. Mary's RC Church, Pompton Lakes. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Visiting hours will be Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
