Shirley Ann McGill, 76, of Whiting, formerly of Pompton Lakes, died Monday, January 23, 2012.

Born in Paterson, Shirley was the daughter of Thomas and Julia Bruce. Marrying Kenneth McGill, the couple settled in Pompton Lakes, where they raised two boys.

A devoted wife and loving mother, Shirley took great pride in caring for her family. She enjoyed working as a baker for the Pompton Lakes School System. Shirley loved working with many wonderful people, especially her best friend Joan.

She is lovingly survived by her sons, Kenneth Jr. and his wife Barbara, and Scott and his wife Maria; her brother, Thomas Bruce; her grandchildren, Megan, Shannon, Kenny and Andrew; and her great-granddaughter, Erin Rose. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth, and her sisters, Emma and Frances.

Visiting hours will be held 6-9 pm Friday at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital would be greatly appreciated by the McGill family.
