Anthony C. DiFiore, 87, of Pompton Plains, passed away on December 29, 2011.

Born in Brooklyn, Anthony was the son of Peter and Angelina DiFiore.  A proud veteran, Anthony served in Scotland, Germany, England and France during World War II.  Upon his return, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from NYU and later earned his Master’s Degree from Hunter College.  He worked as an appraiser for many years and volunteered at Chilton Memorial Hospital for over 10 years.  He was a member of the Disc 55 Club in Pequannock and was very active with the Senior Center there.  Anthony loved spending time in the local library, walking around town with his dog, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.

Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Eileen; his daughter, Mary Stearn and her husband Tom; his beloved grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Aidan; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 3 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains.  Cremation will be private.  The family will receive visitors on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Anthony did not request flowers or charitable donations in his honor, but his family welcomes you to honor him however you’d like.
