George P. Karis passed away at The Atrium of Wayne on December 28, 2011.
Born in Jersey City, NJ on October 29, 1928 George resided in Jersey City and Pequannock New Jersey for much of his life. He and his wife Gloria retired to Indiantown Florida and enjoyed golf, social activities and the sun.
George spent his career as a pipe coverer, later working as Project Manager for Chase Bank of New York and other Real Estate companies. George enjoyed the game of golf, yearly vacations to the Jersey Shore with his family and yearly trips to Lake Placid with a few very dear friends. In his younger years George was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was always involved in local politics wherever he was living at the time.
George is survived by his son Peter Karis and daughter Pamela Weaver and her husband Ronald Weaver. George was blessed with seven grandchildren and survived by Georgette Weaver Fitzpatrick and her husband Brad, Charles Weaver and his wife Christina, Michael Weaver, William Weaver, Ryan Weaver and Vanessa and Stefanie Karis. George also was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Alysha and Christopher Weaver and Brynn Morgan Fitpatrick. He is also survived by his sister Sandra Sotteriou of Jacksonville, Florida
George was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Gloria, and granddaughter Cynthia Karis-Liptak.
A funeral service will be held at 6:30pm on Friday, December 30 at the funeral home. The family will receive visitors from 3 to 6:30pm prior to the service.
